A quick and easy low carb sandwich is always the answer over fast food.  You made a commitment to work on your health so don’t let a hangry bout derail you!

Low Carb Sandwich

Imagine this: it’s the end of a long day, you’re on your way home, and you know you don’t have anything to make for dinner.  As you think more about this, your stomach starts to growl like an angry bear, and visions of Taco Bell, Chick-fil-A, or your favorite fast food place pops up in your head. You know you want to give in.  After all, it’s easy and you want as much couch and relaxation time as possible.  It was a tough day! Your options?  Whiz through the fast food line or take the time to swing by the grocery store. Before making your final decision, remember how the adage goes.  If you always do what you’ve always done, you’ll always get what you always got (Henry Ford).  So what are we going to do?  Give in to fast food or keep that goal you made to yourself top of mind?

The Temptation Of Fast Food Is Real

Fast food has an undeniable allure.  Besides the fast part, mouth-watering fries are always calling my name.  So is a crisp sugary soda.  What’s one fast food meal going to do? I suspect for you, the real answer is nothing.  This isn’t going to be the meal that puts 10 pounds on the scale tomorrow and it shouldn’t land you in the hospital fighting for your life so why not enjoy it? If you really want that Crunchwrap Supreme – go get it! But let’s face it.  That fleeting pleasure comes with a price like hidden sugars, empty calories, and unhealthy fats.  It’s up to you to decide if that price is worth it.  That’s especially true if you have a tendency to beat yourself up after a fast food mukbang. Do you also find yourself in a loop proclaiming you’ll do better tomorrow?  I hate that cycle.  I know it all too well.

Enter  Your Hero – The Low Carb Chicken Wrap

There is nothing new here.  You’ve probably had a million chicken salad wraps in your time.  The real goal here is to shake up whatever you’re feeling, enough so that you ghost your favorite fast food place, and get to the store. Cue chicken salad because it’s easy.  It’s super easy and you know that even though the mayo can be naughty, it’s a helluva lot better than takeout.
  1. Nutrient-Packed Goodness: Protein is good for you and makes you feel full.  Make sure to get those veggies in there for fiber and crunch.
  2. Control Ingredients: No mysteries, nothing hidden.  You know what’s inside your meal.
  3. Portion:  You can control how many you make or how big you make one.  And, you’ll definitely have leftovers for work tomorrow (bonus!).  No way you were going to bring in cold leftover fast food, right?
  4. Budget-Friendly: Have you seen the prices of a combo meal at McDonald’s lately?  No, thank you!
Lastly, can you walk to the store?  Get in your steps and take in your surroundings.  This is the kind of shake-up that you may need.  You’ve set some health goals that do not include fast food. If you can, shake it up further.  I live in a city, so normally, I’d hop on a bus and order crap from Grubhub.  Not today!  I decided to walk and here’s a little graffiti I found on my way to the store.  Love this!   easy low carb sandwiches

The first step is to grab the main ingredient.  Two chicken breasts will be plenty.  I only used one but I wished I had more chicken salad left over. Next, grab all of the veggies you want to add to your wrap.  Do you like cheese?  Grab that, too.  Oh, and shake up your mayo game, as well. I had Green Goddess in mind but the store was out of it.  But, a bottle of cherry pepper mayo caught my eye and it turned out to. be the perfect amount of zippy and it was delicious.  It may be my new favorite condiment. Finally, pick up low carb wraps. That’s it!  Super easy, right?  My bounty is below.   keto diet recipes   The name of this game is quick.  Pound out your chicken so it cooks quickly and evenly.  Season it as you wish and cook it on the stovetop in a skillet for about 4 minutes per side or until the internal temperature is 165 degrees.  Next, cut your veggies, and grab seasonings and your dressing choice.  Let the cooked chicken rest a bit before chopping it up.  Then add everything to a bowl.  Mixy-mix and assemble when ready. You can make a few extra for lunch at work tomorrow or add the chicken salad to an actual salad to pack in more fiber with your protein. Now, some may argue that mayo is high in fat and calories, and it is.  But I think this is still the better option.  I’m proud of you for not getting fast food!     low carb sandwich fillings   low carb sandwich bread
