I don’t want to confuse you straight out of the gate, but this keto recipe can also be made with rotisserie chicken, ground chicken, or probably anything your brain and tummy can conjure. I wanted to throw that out there in the event sausage isn’t your thing but you’re still scanning this recipe.
Ok, our housekeeping is done. Now on to pork.
I live in the city and there are many grocery stores within varying distances. I chose the closest store to me to source this sausage and cheese dip.
This store didn’t have the breakfast sausage I was after and I was too lazy to try another store. I rolled through every aisle looking for that standard log in the shiny wrapper. I would have been happy with spicy, mild, breakfast, or even sweet sausage. But no sausage was to be found except for a pack of tiny links that I didn’t feel like de-casing.
However, they did have ground pork. That did the trick and it will for you, too. You can make this recipe with just ground pork or you can turn that pork into a sausage with a few simple steps.
Sausage Seasoning for Ground Pork
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 teaspoons dried parsley
- 1 1/2 teaspoons dried Italian seasoning
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon dried red pepper flakes
- 3/4 teaspoon crushed fennel seeds
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon minced dried onion
- 2 teaspoons salt
Add all of the ingredients to your ground pork and skillet fry as the keto sausage dip instructs. Voila – you have sausage!

Let us quickly discuss Rotel. I didn’t know anything about this product before keto and now I cannot live without it.

When you’re in the mood for a dip, what’s your goal? I guess the first questions I ask myself are: hot or cold and what do I want to use as my dipping utensil?
There is nothing wrong in my book with the classic cold dips like ranch with veggies. I could smash a bowl of homemade ranch with asparagus and celery.
There is also nothing wrong with a warm cheesy dip. I like to make this one on special nights to enjoy as an appetizer before dinner. Because why not? Low-carb tortillas crisped in the oven and cut into little triangles make the perfect dipper.

EASY SAUSAGE DIP
If everyone is doing the 3 ingredient Rotel sausage dip, I knew I had to try it. I’m a food joiner. But, I wanted to put my own spin on it.
After a little keto dip research, I landed on a chicken alfredo version. Which then took me down a path of all the different proteins you could enjoy in dip form. And then, why wouldn’t a cheesy alfredo base with a pop of flavor from Rotel work with sausage? I couldn’t come up with an answer that derailed me from this thought.
Picture it – a touch of butter to saute a fresh clove of minced garlic bringing fragrant life to your kitchen. Next, velvety heavy cream meets the pan along with softened cream cheese and freshly grated parmesan cheese. Season with a touch of salt, pepper, and nutmeg to round out the flavors.
This is the perfect base for an alfredo keto dip. All that’s left is your sausage, Rotel, and if you dare, a little mozzarella to broil for that golden top.
Easy. This take is so easy. 1 pan, 1 colander, and 1 oven-safe dish. That’s it.
Keto Sausage Dip
Ingredients
- Low-Carb Tortillas, Toasted
- 1.5 cup Cooked and Drained Ground Sausage 1 pound of sausage cooked is about 2 cups, reserve half a cup for another recipe or load up the sausage in this one.
- 2 tbsp Unsalted Butter
- 1 each Garlic Clove, Minced
- .5 cup Heavy Whipping Cream
- 4 ounce Cream Cheese, Softened
- .25 cup Freshly Grated Parmesan Cheese
- Salt & Pepper, to Taste
- Freshly Grated Nutmeg, to Taste
- .5 cup Drained Rotel
- .5 cup Freshly Grated Mozzarella Cheese Optional
Instructions
- In a 400-degree oven, spray low-carb tortillas that you have cut into triangles with oil and bake for 5 minutes per side.
- In a skillet, cook the ground sausage. Remove, drain, and set it aside.
- In the same skillet, over medium heat, melt the butter then lightly saute the garlic until fragrant.
- Add the heavy cream stirring until just warm and remove from the heat.
- Add the softened cream cheese and parmesan cheese stirring until fully combined.
- Season with salt, pepper, and nutmeg.
- Stir in the cooked ground sausage and Rotel.
- The dip can be ready at this point or you can put it into an oven-safe dish, top with a little mozzarella cheese, and broil it until golden brown.
- Serve with the toasted low-carb tortillas.
