KETO PARTY SNACKS
There are 2 questions I ask myself every time I’m faced with making something for a party.
- How much time do I want to spend on this?
- Will everyone love it?
If you ask yourself similar questions and your answer today is – I want 2 super easy low-carb appetizers that I can just throw together. Well then, these are for you! Bonus; everyone will ask you for the recipe. These are so good!
KETO APPETIZERS FOR A CROWD
Many years ago, I befriended the company bookkeeper. She was easy to talk with and super fun. I jumped at the chance when I was invited to her house for a party.
We sat outside on the Maine Coast in perfect weather and one item she served was a roast beef crostini. I ate more than I should have. At this point, I think the invitation was over 20 years ago and I have been pawning off this little treat as my own ever since.
Just kidding, Lori!
I have no idea where she sourced this recipe but it was absolute perfection. She toasted thin rounds of a fresh baguette with olive oil and rubbed garlic on the crispy top before layering paper-thin roast beef and topping it with roasted red pepper, red onion, and a drizzle of horseradish cream sauce.
I’ve adjusted Lori’s recipe over the years and you should, too! That’s the beauty of sharing. In our homes or online – it’s all about sharing what we’ve learned, what we’ve tried, and what we love. And then letting you take it and run with it. Adding your own personal style.
LOW CARB APPETIZERS
There is always a small pause when I remember my favorite recipes involving bread that I now wish to enjoy in a low-carb fashion. For what can actually mimic a baguette? Obviously, some things cannot replace France’s national treasure.
But, this bread absolutely can! I found this bread loaf for under $5 at my local Aldi’s.
Certainly not a baguette, we can shine it up a bit and make it less obvious that it was once a slice of prepackaged bread. First, remove the crust and cut each slice into 2 long pieces or 4 squares. I like to load toppings onto toast, so I opted for the longer cut. However, smaller squares would be fun here, too.
Next, place whatever size you choose under the broiler for 2 to 3 minutes per side. I used a little spray oil to coat each side. I’ve also toasted these with garlic butter which is an extra splurge that you’ll love with the burrata appetizer, for sure!
You’ll want a good toasty base for both of these recipes as you’ll need something to hold some of the flavor that we’ll achieve through liquid. We can’t have soggy bread!
KETO FINGER FOODS ARE THE BEST KETO APPETIZERS FOR A PARTY
The next low-carb appetizer we’re going to make is also on repeat but I discovered it only a few years ago. In between careers, I took a hiatus, rented my home, and moved a few states away. I took a server job in Westerly, Rhode Island.
I thought it would be a fun break from the corporate world. It was not. The owners were hands down two of the most awful people I have ever met. They skimmed our tips from credit cards and refused to show data to reconcile our suspiciously low checks. They were also incredibly mean and refused to pay me my final check when I resigned. Luckily, the State of Rhode Island had the last word.
However, I did glean something positive. One day they made a special and I’ve been recreating a version of it ever since. It’s absolutely stunning. It’s all my favorite flavors.
Of course, I don’t know their actual recipe. But what I’ve created over trial and error is one very close and yummy dupe. The result is a little salty and very creamy. Olives and burrata were made for each other.

TWO LOW CARB APPETIZERS FOR SUMMER
Let’s start putting these together!
The Horseradish Roast Beef Crostini version that I love the most is with Italian Style Roast Beef. My local deli didn’t have that and they were out of roast beef in general. Instead, I tried their London Broil. I didn’t know London Broil this way would be so incredible and illustrates my previous point. Which is to play around with your food.
The first step for both of these is to create your toasty bread. Next, I like a little smear of whole-grain mustard. Then add the roast beef (or London Broil), a few diced red onions that have been bathed in balsamic vinegar, a little bit of roasted red peppers, and finish with a drizzle of horseradish cream sauce.
Horseradish cream sauce is usually found in smaller bottles around the deli and I always find a few different brands in the same aisle as mayo and dressings. Here’s a quick recipe if you want to whip up your own. It’s another Food Network recipe but this one is by Alton Brown.
Ok. Done. That was some quick assembly, right?
Next, on to the Olive Tapenade Burrata which will use the same toasty bread base.
My Favorite of the 2 Keto Appetizers For a Party!
Here, we’ll use an olive tapenade or a kalamata olive spread. You may find one or the other in your local grocery store and I’m always lucky at Whole Foods. This is usually found in the same aisle as jarred Italian options like roast red peppers and jarred artichoke hearts. There are a ton of recipes out there to make your own tapenade but the jarred stuff is delicious.
Top the olives with some burrata that you’ve pulled apart. You can keep this as a vegetarian appetizer, or add a little prosciutto as I did. Lastly, in a bowl, chop some spring lettuce mix and toss it in a little drizzle of olive oil, vinegar, freshly squeezed lemon, salt, and pepper. Add this little salad on top and you have now created 2 amazingly delicious keto appetizers for a party.
